On this day in 1984, we were given the gift of Tetris. Since then, Tetris has hit every device, from old school Gameboy to iPad.

Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov "never imagined Tetris was going to be this successful." But he shouldn't be too surprised, he still plays it regularly and has even encountered super fans who have Tetris cubes tattooed on them. "The simple, yet addicting nature of Tetris still has me playing it a few times every week,” Pajitnov continued, "I meet fans from around the world who are also as passionate about Tetris as me, and there is no doubt in my mind Tetris will continue to expand and bring its classic appeal to new players in new ways and on new devices, whatever they may be.”

For such a simple, old school game, Tetris has adapted to mobile technology seamlessly. It has 425 million paid downloads on mobile devices. Now, its moving into the video game console sphere with the highest tech gaming company around, Ubisoft.

Ubisoft is behind super popular games like Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs, and they're working to develop Tetris Ultimate for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 now. Electronic Arts put out a 30th anniversary edition of the game, called Tetris Blitz, for iOS and Android. There are even revamped Facebook versions of Tetris, and you can play Tetris on Amazon Fire TV.

Thirty years later, people are still reimagining Tetris in a million ways, including a whole line of Tetris bath gear: robes, slippers, shower curtains, towels, rugs and socks are in the works.
