Just weeks after Apple unveiled a slate of brand new iPhones, the company is also on the verge of announcing brand new iPads, too. According to an AllThingD report, we're getting new iPads and new iPad Minis in two weeks

John Paczkowski reports Apple will host an invitation-only event on on October 22 for a select legion of investors and journalist to preview the new devices. Here's what AllThingsD thinks the new iPad 5 and revamped iPad mini will contain:

The fifth-generation iPad is expected to feature a thinner, lighter design akin to the iPad mini’s, and an improved camera. It will run Apple’s new 64-bit A7 chip. The second-generation iPad mini will be upgraded with a retina display and also see the A7 incorporated into its innards.

They might also announce new details about a new operating system and the long-neglected Mac Pros, too.

The big question is whether the new Pads will feature the (kinda gross) fingerprint technology that debuted on the iPhone 5S. There have been a few leaks already purporting to show what the sleeker, thinner new iPad body might look like.

Who knows, maybe there will be a gold option now, too.
