Apple announced Monday that they had sold 3 million of their new iPads in the opening weekend, blowing away the nearly 1 million iPad 2s they sold when that device launched last year. The newest edition, which has better display, longer battery life, and a few other new features, has been getting great reviews so far from tech bloggers. "The new iPad is a blockbuster with 3 million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet,” Apple SVP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller said in a statement announcing the sales figures Monday. For a real mark of how far it's come, consider that the first iPad sold about 300,000 units in its first weekend. But then, those were the heady days when no one was quite sure why Apple was selling a giant iPhone. How times change.
