Jon Stewart last night riffed on the conflict over the element of the Voting Rights Act that makes sure there is oversight of voting laws in states that historically discriminate. Shelby County, Alabama, who is leading the fight against the provision is "looking to become the Jackie Robinson of people who had historically disenfranchised people like Jackie Robinson."

Well, according to Stewart, what Shelby County is saying is that since America elected Barack Obama racism is gone. But what does that make their county since they didn't vote for him?
