Rick Santorum, who is still running for president apparently, raised a few eyebrows when he appeared to suggest on Friday that voters should cast their ballots according to what they think of candidates' spouses. "When you look at someone to determine whether they’d be the right person for public office, look at who they lay down with at night and what they believe in," he told a crowd at the Value Voters summit as he introduced his wife, Karen Santorum. NewsBeast reporter David Graham asked on Twitter, "Which candidate's spouse is Rick Santorum trying to attack? FLOTUS? Callista? Ann Romney? Anita Perry?" His full remarks (in the video below) certainly don't single out a spouse, but the implication is clear that Karen Santorum reins supreme. As The Atlantic Wire's Elspeth Reeve pointed out last week, Karen's steely resolve will definitely be an asset to Santorum on the campaign trail. That is, if he can avoid putting his foot in his mouth when introducing her.
