Students at Grand Valley State University in Allandale, Michigan are protesting the removal of an art installation involving a large pendulum following its use in multiple Miley Cyrus reenactments. The incident involved various posts on Vine that had students riding the pendulum a la Cyrus in the music video for her single, "Wrecking Ball."

According to local news reports, the music video has made riding the installation "more popular than ever, with and without clothes," and so college officials had it removed. They do not, however, plan to discipline any students who participated. Approximately 50 students protested the pendulum's removal on Tuesday, gathering around the pit where it swung and singing Miley Cyrus songs.

Riding the pendulum is apparently a tradition at the school, and current and former students have been protesting its removal on Twitter using #ReinstallTheBall
