The standoff with terrorists at a mall in Nairobi, Kenya entered its third day as gunshots and explosions continued to be heard coming from the building. The siege, which has so far claimed the lives of 68 people, was anticipated to end on Sunday night but has continued on into Monday morning.
According to the BBC, officials believe that between 10 and 15 members of the al Shabaab terrorist movement still remain in the building along with an undetermined number of hostages. The outlook may not be positive, however, though Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta told press that, "The criminals are now located in one place within the building. With the professionals on site, I assure Kenyans that we have as good a chance to successfully neutralize the terrorists as we can hope for."
Kenya mil Spox who earlier said "most" hostages released now sounds much less sure. Tells me: "we are yet to confirm" #westgate— Jason Straziuso (@jstraziuso) September 23, 2013
