The high seas violence seems to be continuing as pirates make their way back to Somalia today with 7 Danish hostages--three of them children--in tow, according to the BBC. The group was captured when pirates ambushed their sail boat in the Indian Ocean last Thursday.

Somalia's popular piracy trade has claimed 31 vessels and 688 hostages so far. Though they typically target cargo ships, this latest attack on the Danish group seems to suggest a new trend in violence towards non-commercial groups as well. Earlier this month four Americans were killed while in the custody of Somali pirates. According to the Associated Press, this this is the first known instance of pirates capturing children.
