It wasn't as flashy as Beyoncé last year, but Bruno Mars turned in a lovely Super Bowl performance, and was joined by the underdressed (read: shirtless) Red Hot Chili Peppers.
After a children's choir began singing Mars' "Billionaire," Mars opened his show with a drum solo before launching into his hit "Locked Out of Heaven."
Mars, wearing a gold lamé jacket did some fancy footwork on his own before being joined by the naturally shirtless Red Hot Chili Peppers, who gave a performance of their "Give It Away."
Head over to the Twitter feed of BuzzFeed's Doree Shafrir who has been retweeting the young'uns who didn't know who those gross old shirtless guys were. E.g.
Love how classy Bruno's halftime show was but who invited the shirtless 50 year old! #Gross— Emily Grahl (@egrahl10) February 3, 2014
The Chili Peppers performance was followed by a slightly awkward tonal change, when members of the military dedicated the following song, which would be Mars' "Just the Way You Are," to their loved ones. The show ended on fireworks.
Ultimately, despite not being Beyoncé, Mars was well reviewed.
My only problem with Bruno Mars tonight is that he did not drop the mic at the end. That was spectacular.— Adam B. Vary (@adambvary) February 3, 2014
