Following the death of series star Paul Walker last month, the release date for the next Fast & Furious movie has been moved back almost a year, from July 11, 2014 to April 15, 2015. Walker was killed a few weeks ago in a high-speed car crash unrelated to the film.

Co-star Vin Diesel announced the new date on his Facebook, the Vinbook:

The delay for upcoming seventh installment in the franchise was not particularly surprising. The film's crew and Universal's executives spent the days following the accident trying to figure out how to simultaneously pay tribute to Walker and salvage their 2014 tentpole release.

Unknown still is precisely how the film will change with the delay. Walker had not finished filming when he died, though as Diesel's post points out, he had finished a not-insubstantial amount of work on the film. Screenwriter Chris Morgan is working on revisions and there are interesting though unconfirmed rumors that Walker's younger brother Cody, a stuntman, might be used a stand-in for some shooting.
