We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every day The Atlantic Wire highlights the videos that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention. Today: Katy Perry channels Demi Moore, George Clooney makes a few brief remarks, and a leprechaun scared the living heck out of Amanda Peet.

Katy Perry has released a teaser trailer for her music video "Part of Me" and it is very G.I. Jane-esque. (Releasing trailers for music videos, when did this start? We don't remember this.) Anyway: the footage should please people who thought G.I. Jane was highly underrated and that the decision not to release Jessica Simpson's long-shelved Private Valentine was a low down dirty shame [via Page Six]

In things that were really, truly fascinating: NBC News had a terrific segment last night about Jim Niehues, who has illustrated over 200 skip maps. (We don't even ski, but instantly recognized his hand-painted style.) The segment was informative and fascinating, but what made it remarkable was that this was the first we'd ever heard of Niehues. On a sub-five-minute Nightly News segment, no less. Watch it: we think you'll agree this is a figure built for front-of-book magazine features. [NBC]

George Clooney deliberately got arrested this morning outside the Sudanese embassy in Washington D.C., but he was gracious enough to wait until after rush hour to do it, which we appreciated. Class act all the way, that George Clooney. Because the aforementioned pinching would have directly impacted our morning commute, we figured it would only be appropriate to share Clooney's post arrest remarks. We think you will agree that they were thoughtful, non-self-righteous, and stubbly. [via AP]

Why was there a leprechaun on Ellen today, and why did he scare the bejesus out of Amanda Peet? Because it is St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, and grotesque ethnic stereotypes are still OK on St. Patrick's Day, apparently. Still unclear: what Amanda Peet was doing on Ellen today. Not that we're complaining: we're hugely pro-Amanda Peet around these parts and think she never quite broke out the way she should have. But still: Amanda Peet!! [via Hulu]
